Department of History of philosophyThe department studies two main problem circles. The first is history of Bulgarian philosophical thought with its genuine complex development and foreign influences and its place in national culture and identity, in particular the Bulgarian philosophical heritage. The second research area relates to contemporary Continental philosophy, and its Bulgarian resonances as conceptualizing methodology. The influence of classical Russian philosophy is also a topic of philosophical investigation. The associates have translated and edited a number of volumes from philosophical classics and modern philosophy among which Aristotle’s Categories, Analytics, and Topics, works of Jean-Paul Sartre, Derrida, classical Bulgarian philosophers, etc. The Aristotle’s editions started the prestigious series of editions “editio maior”. |
